This Story ain't over. Thinking about buying a Saturn?
Think Again!

9.  On 8/27/96,  I returned to Saturn of Wallingford  at 49,042 miles, because the car was shaking and bucking at stop lights.  I was told the alternator that had just been put in last month was bad and it was replaced yet again.  I was also told the spark plug wires and the coil pack were corroded.  The wires were replaced and the connectors were cleaned off.  In addition the module, electronic ignition (DIS) was replaced.

10.  Just over two weeks later, on 9/10/96,  I brought the car to Saturn of Wallingford because there was oil mixed in with the coolant and it was all oozing out the coolant reservoir.  This time the problem was a cracked head and center camshaft journal.  This required a week at the dealership while I sat at home waiting.  I was told to call the next day; and each day I called, I was again told to call again tomorrow.  They flushed the block and radiator core, replaced the head water pump, all hoses, t-stat coolant reservoir, and replaced all coolant system parts due to oil contamination.  I was told by David Delaney, the service advisor, that despite the continuous problems with the car, it was not a lemon because different things were wrong with it each time.  Although the car had been fixed over and over again for a leaking transmission, he said it was a different part of the transmission each time so it did not count.

11.  On 12/6/96, at 63,000 miles, the SES light came on, and since I had moved to Hamden, I began going to Saturn of Branford to see what the problems were.  I was told the O2 sensor needed to be replaced.  That repair was done six days later.

12.  On 1/16/97, while having a regular oil change done, I had them check a clicking noise coming from the dash board area, but to no avail.

13.  On 1/23/97, at 69,555 miles,  the SES light came on so I had Saturn of Branford check the problem.  They said code 23 (transmission fault) came on, but they road tested it and it was fine, so they reset the code.

14.  On 2/20/97, at 73,197 miles, the hazard lights were inoperable, so they repaired a connector.  In addition, they were again unable to identify the same clicking noise coming from the dash board area.

15.  On 3/10/97, the car would not stay started , so I brought it to Saturn of Branford.  I was told that the ignition module and the spark plug wires needed to be replaced.  I was unable to stay to have it done that afternoon, so I made an appointment for later in the week.  However, on my way home, the car began to stall again, so I made an appointment for the following morning.

16.  On 3/11/97 (morning), at 75,656 miles, Saturn of Branford replaced the coil pack, which included the module and wires.

17.  On 3/11/97 (afternoon), the car was not staying started just like the day before.  The car was towed to Saturn of Branford.  For the next eight days I had a rental car while they tried to fix the car.  They first thought the problem to be a faulty PCM, so they replaced it.  Then the car continued to run rough, so they tried replacing the module and wires I had just paid for that morning.  The car still continued to not run properly, so they said the PCM they had received from the factory was also bad, and they ordered another.  Since, even after the third PCM had been put in, the car continued to only work occasionally, they decided it was not the PCM.  They put the second PCM back in the car and road tested the car until it worked better.  With that, they returned the car to me.
