Caution
Do not remove the cap from a hot system. Allow the system to cool,
then slowly remove the cap.
- Remove the cap from the coolant surge tank.
- Make sure that all the parts of the cap, tester, and adapter are clean.
- Install the surge

- Pump the tester until the gage needle reaches 103 kPa
(15 psi).
Caution
Protect yourself by wearing safety glasses, earplugs, a respirator, gloves,
and safety shoes while performing work on the vehicle.
Caution
Never pump the pressure cap above 103.4 kPa (20 psi).
- Watch to see if needle falls. Inspect all hoses for excessive
swelling. Check all joints for leaks.
