Do not allow smoking or the use of open flames in the area where work on the
fuel or EVAP system is taking place. Anytime work is being done on the
fuel system, disconnect the negative battery cable, except for those tests where battery
voltage is required.Caution
Use care in removing fuel injectors to prevent
damage to electrical connector pins on the fuel injector and the nozzle. The fuel
injector is serviced as a complete assembly only. Since it is an electrical component,
it should not be immersed in any type of cleaner. Support the fuel rail to avoid damaging
other components while removing the fuel injector.Important

Clean the fuel rail prior to removing the
fuel injector.Important
Any time the fuel system is opened for service,
O-ring seals used with related components must be replaced.Important

DOHC (LL0) and SOHC (L24) fuel injectors
are not interchangeable. Verify that the correct fuel injectors are installed in the
fuel rail. The fuel injectors are identified by a color coded plastic ring located
near the bottom of the fuel injector. The SOHC (L24) fuel injector is identified by
a blue ring near the O-ring that mates to the intake manifold.Important
