Latch Replacement - Rear Door Lower (Coupe)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the lower trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door .




2. Partially remove the water deflector for access to the opening in the door.
3. Remove the lower latch sound barrier. Refer to Lower Latch Sound Barrier - Rear Door .




4. Remove the fasteners and pull the latch out of the door.




5. Disengage the plastic clip from the cable by rotating the clip away from the cable.
6. Remove the cable from the bracket on the latch.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the cable to the latch by engaging the plastic clip and then pressing the cable into the bracket on the latch.




2. Apply Loctite 242® threadlocker, or equivalent, to the latch fasteners.

Notice

Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the latch to the door.
Tighten

Tighten the rear door lower latch bolts (Coupe) to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

4. Install the lower latch sound barrier. Refer to Lower Latch Sound Barrier - Rear Door .




5. Install the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Rear Door . Make sure there are no wrinkles in the area indicated in the illustration.
6. Install the lower trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door .
7. Check the operation. Both the upper and lower latches must release prior to the rear door handle reaching the end of its travel.
