1997 -- 2000 Saturn S-Series vehicles equipped with A/C (RPO code C60)
Customers may comment of a whistle noise from instrument panel (I/P) area while driving at highway speeds with HVAC system in recirculation mode. The noise may also be present at lower vehicle speeds, with high cross winds.
The noise may be caused by a gap between the rubber seal on the recirculation door and the sealing surface in the blower upper case assembly. This gap may cause a whistle noise when the HVAC system is in the recirculation mode and blower motor is On.
Follow the procedure in this bulletin to verify and repair the noise condition.
Be careful not to allow recirculation door stop to fall into the blower motor
assembly.Notice
The following steps are a blind operation. The recirculation door stop can be
found under forward edge of recirculation door seal and is triangular in shape.Important

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians,
NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to
provide information that could assist in the proper service of a
vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment,
tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and
safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the
bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have
that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether
your vehicle may benefit from the information. |
