Temperature Control Cable Replacement RHD Domestic Only

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the glove box door stops by rotating 90 degrees, and let door hang down.
2. Remove screws from glove box compartment and striker.
3. Remove glove box assembly by pulling rearward at clip locations.




4. Depress the center pins inward to release the radio/HVAC controller cover push pin fasteners.

Important

Do not push center pins through the fasteners.

5. Remove the fasteners and pull the radio/HVAC controller cover rearward.
6. Disconnect the traction control/fog lamp/rear defog electrical connector if equipped.




7. Remove the radio screws.
8. Push the spring clips in through D-holes on both sides of radio brace.
9. Pull the radio out slightly to access the rear of the radio.




10. Disconnect the radio electrical connector and antenna.
11. Remove the radio.




12. Disconnect the blower switch electrical connectors. Remove the electrical harness clip from the H-bracket.




13. Remove the temperature cable from HVAC control by the squeezing lock tabs together while pulling the cable housing straight up.
14. Remove the cable from the pin by pulling straight up. (Service cable shown in illustration.)




15. Rotate the temperature cam fully counterclockwise.




16. Remove the temperature cable housing from retainer clip by pressing upward on upper tab of clip while gently pulling outward on mode cable housing.




17. Remove the temperature cable push on retainer from temperature camp pin.
18. Remove temperature cable.

Installation and Adjustment Procedure.

1. Rotate temperature cam fully counterclockwise.




2. Install temperature cable with wire eyelet wrap as shown.





Important

Do not install temperature cable housing into retainer clip at this time.

3. Install temperature cable eyelet between temperature cam pin and install circular push on retainer.




4. Install temperature cable over HVAC control pin.
5. Install temperature cable housing into channel and push down to lock into place.




6. Place HVAC control temperature lever completely to the right - defrost position.




7. Verify that temperature cam is still in full counterclockwise position.
8. Presstemperature cable housing in firmly into retainer clip to lock.
9. Move HVAC control temperature lever through modes to verify proper installation.





Important

Make sure the wiring harnesses do not interfere with control lever movement.

10. Connect the blower switch electrical connectors.




11. Connect the electrical connector and antenna to radio.




12. Install the radio.

Important

Make sure the spring clips are seated in D-holes on both sides.

13. Install and tighten the screws.
Tighten

Tighten to 2.5 N·m (22 lbs in)





14. Connect the traction control/fog lamp/rear defog electrical connector, if equipped.
15. Install the radio/HVAC controller cover. Push in at the clip locations.




16. Install glove box and snap in at clip locations.
17. Install and torque screws.
Tighten

Tighten to 2.2 N·m (20 lbs in)

18. Install glove box door stops.
19. Adjust striker as necessary.
