Important
The front and rear engine crankshaft oil
seals are replaced without removing the engine from the vehicle.
Replacement of front cover oil seal:
- The new oil seal should be installed with the front cover installed. The
installation tool uses the crankshafts threads to pull the seal into place. An arbor
press and the
SA9104E
must be
used to install the front seal if the cover is removed. Never tap on the seal or
seal installer with a hammer.
- Using the
SA9104E
, install
the new oil seal until its fully seated.
Important
The new oil seal should be installed with
the front cover installed. The installation tool uses the crankshafts threads to
pull the seal into place. An arbor press and the
SA9104E
must
be used to install the front seal if the cover is removed. Never tap on the seal
or seal installer with a hammer.
- Apply a coat of oil to the seal lip and inside diameter of the front cover seal
bore.
Important
The oil pump cover screws are coated with
a sealant to prevent oil leakage. New screws must be installed, if screws are removed.
- If the oil pump and regulator has been removed from the front cover, the valve
must be replaced. Install the new regulator valve, if removed, using
the
SA9103E
. Install oil pump
assembly, and cover plate.
TightenTighten the Oil Pump Cover-to-Front Cover 11 N·m
(8 lbs ft).
