1991-2001 Saturn S-Series Coupes built before and including VIN 1Z115219

Condition:

Some owners may comment that a whistle type noise is heard at highway speeds. The noise may be perceived to come from high up on the dash, near the windshield. The condition may be more pronounced when crosswinds are present or during periods of rain.

Also, a groaning type noise may be heard during periods of precipitation, includes fog, rain and/or snow. This noise is also perceived to come from high up on the dash, near the windshield.

Cause:

These noises may be caused by airflow around the radio antenna mast.

Correction:

Drive the vehicle to confirm the noise conditions. After confirming the noise conditions, remove the radio antenna mast and drive the vehicle to verify that the noise condition is eliminated.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer".  They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle.  Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely.  If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition.  See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
