Surge Tank Hose/Pipe Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Engine Coolant Check and Replacement .
2. Remove the heater return pipe from the hold down clamps.
3. Remove the heater return pipe-to-thermostat housing clamp and hose.
4. Remove the clamp and hose from the coolant surge tank.





Notice

Cut only deep enough to separate the crimp ring. Take care not to cut the pipe.

Important

When cutting the crimp ring, cut at 30 degree angle to the center line of the hose.

5. Lift the pipe and use hacksaw to cut crimp ring on coolant bottle hose.
6. Use a flat head screwdriver to separate the ring from the hose.
7. Remove the hose and ring from the pipe.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the new clamp on hose.
2. Install the hose on the pipe. Position the clamp at 3 o'clock.




3. Install the hose and clamp on the coolant bottle. Position the clamp at 1 o'clock.
4. Install the thermostat housing hose and clamp on the heater return pipe. Position the clamp tangs at 1 o'clock.
5. Install the pipe on the hold down clamps.
6. Fill the cooling system and leak test. Refer to Engine Coolant Check and Replacement .
