Cylinder Head Disassemble

SA9102E-A Valve Seal Remover/Replacer

1. Remove the intake and exhaust manifolds.
1. Remove the spark plugs.
2. Remove the 9 intake and 7 exhaust manifold mounting nuts and stud.
3. If the cylinder head studs come out, nuts should be removed from the studs, threads cleaned, and studs carefully installed.
Tighten

Tighten the studs to 13 N·m (115 lb in).





2. Remove the hydraulic lifters. A magnet will easily pull the lifter out of its bore. Do not use pliers or a sharp object. keep the lifters in order.




3. Remove the valves and stem seals.

Notice

Be careful not to damage valve stems during cap and retainer removal.

1. Using the SA9124E , remove the valve spring cap retainers.
2. Remove the caps, springs, and valves.





Important

Arrange the disassembled caps, seals, springs, and valves in the correct order.

3. Using the SA9102E-A , remove the valve stem oil seal.
