Fender Replacement - Front Coupe

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front wheelhouse panel outer fasteners.




2. Remove the rocker panel cover. Refer to Molding Replacement - Rocker Panel in Exterior Trim.
3. Remove the bottom rear fender bolts.




4. Remove the top middle pushpin fasteners from the front fascia.




5. Remove the windshield frame filler panel by removing the bolt, then sliding upward.




6. Slide the front fascia forward and disengage from the bolts to the fender.




7. Remove the shoulder bolts from the front fender bracket.




8. Remove one headlamp attaching bolt. Slide the outer side of the headlamp forward to gain access to the forward front fender to compartment rail bolt.




9. Remove the bolt from the rear upper corner of the fender to the front body hinge pillar.
10. Remove the bolts from the fender flange to the upper motor compartment rail.
11. Remove the two fender-to-fender reinforcement bracket bolts.
12. Remove the fender.

Installation Procedure

1. If the fender is replaced:
1. Install the Saturn emblem.
2. Install the hood bumper and antiflutter foam to the fender upper flange.
2. Position the fender on the motor compartment side rail.
3. Align the fender to the door and hood.

Notice

Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the fender to the front body hinge pillar bolt.
Tighten

Tighten the fender-to-front body hinge pillar bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

5. Install the bolts from the fender flange to the upper compartment side rail, bottom rear fender to support, front fender bracket to fender shoulder bolts.
Tighten

Tighten the fender-to-upper motor compartment side rail (front ) to 10 N·m (89 lb in).





6. Install the headlamp bolt.
Tighten

Tighten the headlamp housing bolts (coupe) to 7 N·m (61 lb in).

7. Check the headlamp aim. Adjust the headlamp aim , if required.




8. Position the front fascia and slide it into place.




9. Install the front fascia push pins.




10. Install the windshield frame filler panel.




11. Install the rocker panel cover. Refer to Molding Replacement - Rocker Panel in Exterior Trim.




12. Install the front wheelhouse panel outer fasteners.
