Energy Absorber Pad Replacement - Outer Rear Sedan/Wagon

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the rear door outer panel. Refer to Rear Door Outer Panel - Sedan/Wagon removal procedures in this manual.
2. Remove the door insulator. Refer to Insulator - Rear Door .

Caution

If energy absorber is removed or damaged it must be replaced with a new part. If omitted, the vehicle will not meet federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS), subjecting the retailer to possible civil penalties for making the vehicle inoperative to the FMVSS, and increasing the risk of injury to the vehicle occupants.

3. Remove the energy absorber from the door structure.

Installation Procedure

1. Remove the tape backing and install the energy absorber to the door structure.

Important

If the adhesive on the door sound insulator does not stick, 3M® Trim and Emblem Adhesive P/N 08063, P/N 08061, or equivalent, can be used to adhere the door sound insulator to the door structure.

2. Install the door insulator. Refer to Insulator - Rear Door .
3. Install the rear door outer panel. Refer to Rear Door Outer Panel - Sedan/Wagon.
