Service Procedures Involving the Liquid Line to TXV Connection of Suction Line to TXV Connection #99-T-42 - (Jan 13, 2003)

Updated Service Information for Service Procedures Involving the Liquid Line-to-TXV Connection or Suction Line-to-TXV Connection

1991 - 2000 Saturn S-Series vehicles equipped with A/C (RPO code C60)

Purpose

All service procedures involving service to the thermal expansion valve (TXV) connections have changed. (Refer to illustration in this bulletin.)

No R-12 Refrigerant (mineral) oil is required during assembly of liquid line-to-TXV connection or suction line-to-TXV connection. These connections should be assembled dry.

This new recommended practice should replace any previous recommendations involving TXV connections found in the 1991 - 2000 HVAC Service Manuals.

The recommended service procedures of applying mineral oil on A/C system O-rings other than the TXV connections should still be practiced and does not change.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer".  They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle.  Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely.  If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition.  See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
