1991-1999 Saturn vehicles equipped with SOHC (LK0/L24) or DOHC
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide updated service manual information about assembling pistons to connecting rods and installing the piston/rod assemblies in the engine block. This bulletin provides a revision to step 1 of the "Assembly of Piston and Connecting Rod Assemblies" procedure. Copies of this bulletin should be made and inserted into the appropriate location of all Engine/Fuel/Air Intake/Exhaust Service Manuals at Saturn Retailers.
Assemble piston and connecting rod:
If the pistons are already installed in the bores and orientation is being verified,
look at the underside of the pistons to ensure the piston pin boss with the rectangle-shaped
casting feature is pointing toward the back of the engine (refer to illustration in
this bulletin).Important
GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians,
NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to
provide information that could assist in the proper service of a
vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment,
tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and
safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the
bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have
that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether
your vehicle may benefit from the information. |
