Hood Hold-Open Rod Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the hood.

Caution

When the hood hold open rod is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

2. Push the rod toward the engine and twist the rod out of bushing, then remove the rod.
3. If required, pry the bushing out of the upper tie bar.

Installation Procedure

1. If removed, install the bushing in the upper tie bar.
2. Install the rod into the bushing by pushing the rod in and twisting.
3. Remove the hood support and close the hood.
