Seat Back Replacement - Front SC1/SL/SL1/SW1

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket .
  2. Remove the recliner handle.
  3. Remove the seat adjuster side cover.

  4. Remove the recliner lever and the nylon spacer.

  5. Release the seat cushion cover rear J-strip.
  6. Remove the bolts attaching the recliner mechanisms to the adjusters.
  7. Remove the seat back assembly from the adjuster.

  8. Disengage the interlock strip at the bottom of the seat back assembly. Pull the cover up to expose the hog rings in the foam pad. Remove the hog rings.
  9. Unzip the back of the seat back pad/cover assembly and remove the seat back pad/cover from the seat back frame.
Installation Procedure

  1. Install the seat back pad/cover assembly over the seat back frame. Install the hog rings into the foam to secure the pad/cover assembly to the recliner cross tube.
  2. Check the fit of the pad/cover and pull on the cover where necessary to remove wrinkles. Zip the rear of the seat back pad/cover assembly. Engage the interlock at the bottom cover.

  3. Install the seat back assembly, with the recliners and the cross tube attached, to the seat adjuster. Install the recliner to the seat adjuster bolts.
    4. Tighten

    Tighten the front seat back recliner fastener to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  4. Wrap the seat cushion cover rear flap to cover up the recliner cross tube and engage the seat cushion cover rear J-strip to the seat cushion frame.

    Caution

    Apply Loctite 242® Threadlocker, or equivalent, on recliner lever fasteners before installing.

  5. Install the recliner lever and spacer.
    6. Tighten

    Tighten the recliner lever fastener to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  6. Install the seat adjuster side cover.
    7. Tighten

    Tighten the seat side cover fasteners to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  7. On the driver's side, install the riser knob.
    8. Tighten

    Tighten the seat riser knob fastener to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  8. Install the recliner handle.
    9. Tighten

    Tighten the recliner handle fastener to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  9. Install the seat into the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket .
