Brake Hose Replacement

Removal Procedure

    Caution

    To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed.

  1. Raise the vehicle on hoist.
  2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  3. Disconnect the brake hose from the caliper or wheel cylinder. Plug the opening in the caliper or wheel cylinder to avoid fluid loss and contamination.
  4. Disconnect the brake hose from the brake pipe. Plug the opening in the brake pipe to avoid fluid loss and contamination.
Installation Procedure

    Notice

    Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

  1. Install the brake hose to the brake pipe.
  2. Tighten

    Tighten the fastener to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Install the brake hose to the caliper or wheel cylinder with new washers.
  4. Tighten

    Tighten the washers to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).

  5. Bleed the brakes. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  6. Check the connections for fluid leaks.
  7. Notice

    Before installing wheels, remove rust or corrosion from wheel mounting surfaces and brake rotors/drums. Failure to do so can cause wheel nuts to loosen in service.

  8. Position the wheel onto the hub.
  9. Install the wheel nuts and tighten in a crisscross pattern. Repeat the tightening pattern to be sure the torque is correct.
  10. Tighten

    Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 N·m (103 lb ft).

  11. Lower the vehicle from the hoist.
