Brake Backing Plate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disassemble the rear drum brakes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
2. Disconnect the brake hose at the wheel cylinder and remove the wheel cylinder as previously described.
3. Remove the parking brake cable.
4. Remove the 4 hub and bearing assembly-to-knuckle bolts and remove the hub and bearing assembly and the backing plate from the knuckle.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the hub and the bearing assembly and the backing plate to knuckle and install the 4 fasteners.

Notice

Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the parking brake cable.
Tighten

Tighten the rear wheel hub assembly to 85 N·m (63 lb ft).

3. Install the wheel cylinder and the brake hose as previously described.
4. Completely assemble the rear drum brakes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
