Fixed Operations Manager and Technician
The purpose of this bulletin is to clarify the proper use of the labor codes used to reprogram vehicle control modules. Saturn Corporation® uses labor codes in the warranty system to help identify warranty trends in order to continue making improvements to the vehicles we build and sell. It is important that the Saturn Retail Facility uses the correct labor code to ensure this process continues successfully. The following labor codes should be used when reprogramming a vehicle controller:
Labor Operation | Labor Operation Description | Purpose | Vehicle Line |
---|---|---|---|
D4707 | Module or Assembly, HVAC Control Head - Reprogram | To reprogram auto climate control (HVAC) head on vehicles equipped with C68 Auto Air Conditioning. | L-Series |
J6354* | EE PROM - Reprogramming (Install New PCM Calibration) | To reprogram engine control module (ECM) or powertrain control module (PCM). | S-Series, L-Series, VUE, ION |
K5364 | TCM - Reprogramming | To reprogram the transaxle control module (TCM). | L-Series, VUE, ION |
N4808 | Computer (Control) Body - Reprogramming | To reprogram the body control module (BCM). | S-Series, L-Series, VUE, ION |
R4491 | Transmitter, Remote Control Door/Rear Compartment Lock - Reprogramming | To reprogram the remote keyless entry fob. | S-Series, L-Series, VUE, ION |
*NOTE: Effective 09/15/03, J6355 will be deleted from the Electronic Labor Time System. After this date, J6354 must be used for reprogramming PCM/ECM.
For further information refer to the appropriate Saturn Electronic Labor Time Guide.
GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians,
NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these
technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to
provide information that could assist in the proper service of a
vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment,
tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and
safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the
bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have
that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether
your vehicle may benefit from the information. |
