Power Steering Pump Drive Shaft Seal Replacement

SA9162C Power Steering Pump Pulley Remover/Replacer

Removal Procedure

Important

This procedure does not require disassembly of pump.

1. Remove pump from vehicle, as described previously.
2. Remove pump pulley using the SA9162C (or equivalent).
3. Protect drive shaft with shim stock.
4. Using a small chisel, cut drive shaft seal and remove from pump housing.

Installation Procedure

1. Lubricate new drive shaft seal with power steering fluid.
2. Install drive shaft seal into pump housing with suitably sized socket.
3. Install pump in vehicle as previously described.
4. Bleed power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
