Sunroof Sunshade Fabric Material Separates From Sunroof Sunshade at Front and Rear Edges (Re-attach Sunroof Sunshade Fabric) Due to changes in the subject line, this bulletin is being revised and supersedes bulletin 98-t-47, which should be discarded.

1996 -- 1999 Saturn Sedans and 1997 -- 1999 Saturn Coupes equipped with factory installed sunroof (CF5 option)

Condition

Under normal operation conditions, sunroof sunshade fabric begins to separate from sunroof sunshade fabric begins to separate from sunroof sunshade.

Cause

Improper adhesion between sunroof sunshade fabric and sunroof sunshade.

Correction

Re-attach fabric using the following procedure.

Procedure
  1. Remove sunroof sunshade from vehicle. Refer to "Sunroof Sunshade" in the Body/Repair Service Manual.
  2. Place sunroof sunshade on a clean bench.
  3. Remove old adhesive using a razor blade.
  4. Cover areas that should not have adhesive applied to them.
  5. Apply 3M General Trim Adhesive (P/N 8088), or equivalent, to attaching side of fabric and attaching side of sunroof sunshade. Follow manufactrurer's instructions for drying and application.
  6. Install sunroof sunshade in vehicle. Refer to "Sunroof Sunshade" in the Body/Repair Service Manual.
