So, you are thinking about buying a Saturn.  And you are wondering about reliability.  Well, well, well.  Have I got a story for you!

This is a letter that my wife wrote and sent to the State of Connecticut's  Department of Consumer Protection.

My 1995 Saturn SL1 has been nothing but a constant nuisance.  From the very beginning, there have been mechanical problems which have cost me approximately $1150.00 in sometimes needless or incorrect repairs and other various expenses, $974.00 in  lost wages, countless time, and anxiety.

I have never felt that I could rely on this car, and unfortunately, this is my only one.  My state of mind has been altered by this situation, often leaving me depressed and in tears.  What sours the experience even further is the fact that this is my first car ever, and the reason I bought this car was because of the commercials I saw on television about Saturn.  Other than the people in Ohio we have not been treated the way they portray themselves on those commercials.  To wit:

The only thing which has been more unreliable, is the service.  Each time there was a big repair done on the car we believed it was fixed.  Obviously, we have been too trusting of the Connecticut dealers.  Each one we have been to (Hartford, Wallingford, Branford, and Fairfield) have treated us poorly and have been unsuccessful in repairing this car.  I have only had this car for 30 months, and have  2 1/2 years of payments left.  Having given the individual dealerships and Saturn corporation as a whole more than ample opportunity to resolve this totally outrageous situation, we now feel the need to seek outside assistance.
